A pair of socks. That is the most out-of-place thing in my Mother Clucker today. They belong to my daughter and they have been there since Friday. That's 4 days....4 days that I have been rooting around, pushing the socks aside to find what I want at the bottom of the bag. Now they are sitting on the desk next to me. Any guesses on how long they will stay there?????

She took the socks off at her birthday party which was at the skating rink. Stick with me here. They are short socks, the ankle kind and when she went to put on her skates she realized that the short kind weren't going to be the best. So, my husband, being the man that he is, actually took off his black dress socks to give to her. To make her more comfortable, regardless of the fact that it left him sockless in black shoes and black pants in January.

What did she say? Thank you? Noooooooooo. I think it was closer to, "These are WET!". Typical grateful child who is celebrating her birthday for the second time in one week. And one more party to go. That's right, three separate celebrations in one week. Let's see, one homemade cake made and presents hunted down and bought for the actual day. Goody bag (don't even get me started here) contents shopping done, balloons gotten, pizza and ice cream cake ordered, nine eleven year-olds carted to and from the ice rink for the "friend party". And last but not least, extended family organized and more food ordered for the "family party".

Gee, no wonder I didn't have time to take the socks out of my bag.
